How to lighten hair naturally – does hydrogen peroxide and baking soda really work?

Hi everyone! As you guys know, I’ve been researching how to lighten hair naturally. First I tried the lemon juice method, and at the end of that post, I asked you to vote on which method I should try next. And as you probably guessed by now, hydrogen peroxide won! So now for the moment of truth. Does hydrogen peroxide and baking soda on black hair really work? Here’s what I did.

1. Pour 1 cup of baking soda

2. Pour in the hydrogen peroxide

Do it slowly as to be able to control how thick the paste gets.

3. Stir until you get a liquid consistency

4. Apply generously to clean hair

Be sure to use enough that it can penetrate each lock.

5. Let it sit for 1 hour

6. Rinse your hair and deep condition or apply a moisture treatment

7. Let your hair air dry and check out your new colour

I think it lightened the ends a bit but nothing too significant. The brown in my hair appears more vibrant though. If you decide to try hydrogen peroxide and baking soda on black hair, the colour shows up best in the sun; otherwise it’s a very subtle effect. It seems the best course of action might be to bleach your hair the regular way and then use the lemon or the baking soda method to maintain the colour.

Have you ever tried to lighten your hair? What was your experience like?

Wow!!! Looks cool. I believe that by the time the sun hits it a few times the colour will be a whole lot more vibrant.
Are you moisturizing or treating hair right after? as any form of colouring can be a bit harsh on the hair.
