Simple loc updo for dummies #2

Hi everyone! As you guys know, I am not a styling expert so I like to find super easy loc styles that even the stylistically challenged, like myself, can do. Updos are a great way to keep your hair off your neck while looking elegant. Here is another tutorial for one of my easy loc updo styles.

Optional: Curl your locs

Whenever I have done this style, I always happened to have curly locs. (See my post: “5 easy ways to curl your locs”.) However, this is not essential to this hairstyle so you can choose whether or not to curl them.

Alternate method:

Step 1: Separate the front section and create a low bun with the remaining hair

First, create a side part. Then, using your ears as a guide, separate out the front section of your hair; choose the part that has more hair. Next, put the remaining locs into a low bun. In the video, I do the bun last but either way can work.

Step 2: Roll the front section

Roll the front section backwards, so that the roll can lie flat against your head. This will also provide space for your edges to be seen.

Step 3: Secure the roll to the bun with a safety pin

Make sure to secure the roll right above the bun so that it all blends in. In the video, I don’t use any pins at all, since I do the bun last.

Step 4: Enjoy your loc updo
